The Importance of Strong Families

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community that exists within the intersections of multiple identities I am often taken aback by inherent discrimination within the LGBTQ+ community against many of the identities I prescribe to. One is latino/hispanic which describes mostly the culture and home life I grew up in. The same home life (and community) that is currently fostering and supporting me as an out Queer Cis-male. I am saddened by seeing Gay and Lesbians discriminate and attack people of Latina descent or people who speak spanish - telling them to get out of "'Mericah"! Well I'm happy to inform you that you weren't here first. In fact the spanish had colonized much of the new world before you british bums got across the waters. But that is also no reason for conflict because neither belongs here because the first human inhabitants were the first nation people whose culture is not a fashion trend to make Gays and Lesbians "hip" or "cool".

Stop discriminating and start learning and supporting other marginalized groups. The more allies we create; the stronger we stand together the more change we can enact.
